All Bill-fish
A bill fish minimum weight for boarding is 300 lbs. All bill-fish under 300 lbs. must be released even if they are dead. 300 lbs. and above may be boarded and brought to the scales. Any Bill-fish boated for any reason must be weighed. Failure to weigh a boated fish will result in immediate disqualification for the remainder of the tournament and forfeiture of all points previously earned.
Blue Marlin
Each released Blue Marlin will score 300 points. All Blue Marlin over 300 lbs and brought to the scale will be awarded a score of 1 point per pound. All Blue Marlin under 300 lbs brought to the scales will be disqualified.
If a blue Marlin brought to the scale fails to make the minimum weight limit, the team that caught the fish will be penalized 150 points plus one (1) point per pound that the fish is under the minimum weight. For example, if a fish weights 280lbs, that team will be penalized 150 points for not meeting the weight requirement and another 20 points for the fish difference. The total penalty would cost them 170 points and they would receive no other points for the fish.
White Marlin and Sail Fish
All White Marlin and Sail fish must be released. Each released White Marlin and Sailfish will be awarded 150 points.
All other Species
The minimum weight for all other species to classify is 22 lbs (10kg).
All boarded fish including those that are not classified, must be brought to the scale and will become property of the organization. Failure to do so may cause disqualification from the tournament.
Photos
Any team reporting having released a fish must return their camera with the correct date and time according to the time announced by the committee in the morning to the weighting station after each fishing date at the latest 30 minutes after arrival. A picture of the team must be taken before returning the camera to the Organizing Committee. There must be a clear photo of the angler fighting the fish with the control code and a photo where the fish species is clearly identifiable along with the control code together in at least one picture. It is recommended to take several pictures to insure proper credit.
All rights to the photos belong to the organizing committee and may be used for any form of publication authorized by the committee.
Please take note that the picture is the only evidence of the catch and release. The process of taking the picture is as important as fighting and dominating the fish. Teams are recommended to establish a procedure and pre-assign a person for taking the pictures. This person should be totally familiar with the rules of the tournament. The teams are responsible to ensure that the pictures of the fish are taken in a way that the species of the fish can be positively identified from the pictures taken. All teams are responsible to have their VHF radios, cameras and accessories in a serviceable condition. These include but are not limited to the camera, batteries, chargers, download cable and memory card, VHF radio, battery and antenna.
