Equipment
1. Maximum of 50lb test line and only standard Rods and Reels are allowed. No bonus points will be awarded to anglers using lighter lines.
2. Double line cannot exceed 30 feet in total length (9.14m). The combined length of the double line and leader must not exceed 40 feet or 12.19m.
3. Fishing is limited to trolling or drifting. Bottom fishing is not permitted.
4. No more than two (2) single hooks may be used. Use of dangling or swinging hooks is prohibited. Please see IGFA link for additional explanation and diagrams.
5. No Live Bait is allowed. All other bait is acceptable.



Anglers and Reporting
6. Two - four (2-4) fisherman plus a captain must fish on each boat. Substitution of anglers is only allowed after approval of the Central Board and must be before the baits go in the water.
7. The captain must sign the departure sheet at the Central headquarters located at It Rain's Fishes restaurant prior to departure. Departure sheets are available from 06:00 in the morning.
8. Fishing hours on Friday are 7:00 am until 4:00 and on Saturday 7:00 until 4:00. Neither baits nor teasers are allowed in the water before or after the mentioned hours on the schedule.
9. All boats must be back in the marina at the latest one hour after the time limit of pulling the baits out of the water, or they will be disqualified.
10. There is no time limit for fighting the fish as long as it is within the time frame allowed before returning to the marina.

Strike
11. Each angler must strike, fight and bring the fish to the point of release or boarding without the help of others and with his rod and reel only. More persons are permitted on the boat, but must limit themselves only to assist as listed in the IGFA rules (see link at the side).
12 A photograph of the fisherman fighting the fish with the control code assigned by the central board must be taken before the release takes place.
13. The leader (Swivel) must touch the tip of the rod before the fish can be released.
14. The Jury must be able to clearly identify the bill-fish and the control code together on one photograph. The jury recommends taking multiple pictures. Be sure to set the time and date of your camera according to the time announced b the committee each morning.
15. Any single fish hooked by two or more anglers is automatically disqualified, but must be reported to control.
16. If one angler has a fish approaching his bait or has a strike, the other anglers cannot attempt to bait that fish. They may not pull out of the outriggers or drop the flat line until the first angler stops trying to catch the fish. If the fish goes to another bait, the same rules will apply in favor of the new angler. When the angler is definitely hooked up with a fish, he will have total control of the boat and when he or she so desires he may order to stop the boat at which time all other anglers will immediately remove their baits from the water.
17. In case of more than one fish being hooked at once, the fish must be brought to the point of release in the same order as they were hooked up.
18. Any fish mutilated so as to impair his fighting ability is disqualified.

Weight Alteration
19. Attempted weight alteration of any blue marlin or game fish will automatically disqualify the boat from the tournament. IGFA rules apply regarding mutilated fish. The Rules Committee reserves the right to cut open any fish for inspection of suspected weight altering efforts such as inserted weights, ice, water, etc.

International Tournament Rules

All boats must report on the  VHF radio (68) when:

1.  Leaving the pier

2.  Baits go in the water

3.  Baits come out of the water

4.  Returning to the marina

5.  Arriving at the Marina

Information for all strikes must be reported on the VHF:

1.  Name of the boat

2.  Name of the Angler

3.  Probable Species

4.  Location

5.  Releasing or Loosing the fish

6.  Boating the fish

7.  Amount of pictures taken.



Only if you are not able to establish VHF communication, Cell phones are acceptable.  Messages received via cell phones will be relayed on the VHF so other participants are aware of the communications where relevant.
